Haunted Rooms at Fry Metals
Joanna Keane contacted me in 2006 to pass on a story concerning the Fry metals building which used to stand a short distance to the east of the Sainsbury's (previously Savacentre) superstore near Colliers Wood underground station. She remembered hearing of a female ghost that supposedly haunted a few of the rooms in the Fry building and related the following tale:
'Apparently, one of the rooms was used as a storeroom, and one day [the staff] wanted to get things from the room. When they tried to get into the room they could not do so. When they eventually managed to get into the room, most of the stuff had been placed against the door, thus preventing the door being opened. Now, the things could only have been moved from inside the room....'
Joanna believes that the haunted rooms were on the first floor of the building. The building has since been demolished.
